September 2025 – IMOJ brought a US team to dedicate the well in Lemooti and teach the people in the villages there

What an incredible two weeks we had in Tanzania with the Maasai! Over 3000 Maasai gathered to give thanks, share testimonies and celebrate the miracle of the water well in Lemooti. They said to us, ‘Since the creation of the world never had the people of Lemooti had clean water’. Over 50 unsuccessful attempts had been made. In spite of the naysayers, God said to our IMOJ team, “drill deeper” and He has demonstrated his love for them through this. At 250 meters there was a geyser of the purest water! Even before the drilling of the well 1000’s had came and received the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ after watching the Jesus film. We preached under the tree where they once sacrificed to their tribal god. And we preached in small churches, visited 4 previous wells and heard testimonies of God’s grace and provision everywhere we went. We saw churches planted where there were none before. We taught Genesis 1-3 in story form and presented the gospel in 3 sub-villages of Lemooti. We distributed bibles everywhere we went. We danced and laughed and prayed over the land and the people. We witnessed the miracle of salvation for the people who came. Claire taught the women about health and distributed clean birthing kits to the midwives. In the evenings we bonded with our national team around campfires. We saw deliverance on our team and prayed powerfully over one another. We heard amazing testimonies and came away deeply moved by what God is doing in that place. The spiritual warfare was intense but God wins every time! Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

July 2025 – IMOJ successfully drilled a well in the village of Lemooti

Water in Lemooti! God in His gracious mercy has granted the people of Lemooti an abundant supply of water! It was a miracle from the hand of God, a direct intervention from Him in a dry land where the women walked 30 kilometers to find clean water. There were more than 20 dry holes dug prior in the area. The people were told that there was no water there, but God intervened and put us right where we needed to be and told us to GO DEEPER!!! This well is 250 meters (78 stories) deep. Our deepest one so far.

This well is generating 4000 liters (1056 gallons) an hour of pristine, clear water for these beautiful people. Earlier this year, the people of Lemooti heard the gospel and saw the Jesus film. They responded! Over a 1000 were baptized.

The videos below are from the celebration of the water and the people of Lemooti coming to Christ earlier this year.

February 2025 – In these videos, Lamnyak and Charles share about the newly finished well in Kati-Kati, the 1000+ new believers who will be baptized in Loliundo in February, and a big thanks to Double Oak Community church for your support.

The Response to the Gospel in Wasso and Buffalo Village – December 2024

Response and Results:

Lamnyak reported that at first it was difficult to have access to teach the people about God in Wasso because the elders were distrustful. They have had many problems with the government and are in conflict with other tribes in that region so they were skeptical of outsiders.

Thankfully, as Maasai men, Lucas and Lamnyak were given a hearing and were able to explain that their only agenda was to tell the people about God. And so after a day of questioning they gained the favor of the elders and were given permission to speak. In all they taught and shared the Jesus film with 8 sub villages and all the people responded by receiving the good news of the Gospel.

Lamnyak and Lucas stayed and taught through some of the Bible stories and distributed 70 bibles to the people. Lamnyak said that all the people, including the elders, are now Christians and they want to be baptized and have a church.

Already 40 people have asked to come and attend orality training next year. Pray for pastors to be sent out to plant churches and disciple these people. There are no churches with easy access to this area.

Lamnyak and Lucas showed the Jesus film and taught in Buffalo village, one of the villages over the boarder with Kenya. The people there were more educated and most could read but still had never heard the gospel story. Lamnyak was so amazed at this. They also responded by embracing the good news of the gospel and accepting Jesus.

Lamnyak and Lucas are meeting with 125 leaders in Simanjiro Province this evening to pray and discuss the gospel. Please pray for this event and also for Lamnyak to recover. He is sick today.

Tomorrow, we are hoping to receive a new shipment of 100 bibles for Lamnyak and Lucas to take to the villages of Kiteto and Sumera. They have been invited by the elders there to share the gospel and show the Jesus film to the people living in those villages. These are also unreached. Please pray that God will pour out his Spirit on these two young men and Lamnyak’s father who will be accompanying them. Pray that the people will receive the gospel and repent and receive Jesus as Lord and savior.

So many new believing Maasai are in need of bibles. Please consider giving so they will have access to God’s word. Thank you for your partnership with IMOJ in this!

Please pray for rains to come to Simanjiro Province. The lake where the animals and many people come for water has completely dried up. The wells are the only source of water for everyone in the region now.

Lamnyak is showing us that the lake in Sukuro has dried up. The wells are
now the only source of water in the region
This is what the lake typically looks like this time of year. This video was taken in November 2022.

IMOJ successfully drilled the 6th Well in Simanjiro Province on November 5th, 2024. This well is in Kati Kati.

The second cohort of Orality students began classes today, October 20, 2024. Forty-five Maasai students have registered for the 7 month course which teaches the stories of bible starting in Genesis and going all the way through Revelation.

Our team distributed 600 bibles to Maasai believers in Simanjiro. We thank our partners who have made this possible through your generous donations!

September 2024 – Update from IMOJ Tanzania

IMOJ recently sent a team of 8 people to serve for 10 days in Tanzania with the Maasai. What a great trip with a wonderful group of believers from Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama. God is moving in powerful ways! There are thousands of new Maasai believers who have recently come to Christ and they are hungry to know Him and receive His word. They welcomed us like family and we connected deeply with them. It was hard to leave!

We were able to dedicate the 5th well at Kimotorak and teach using orality to over 300 Maasai. We were able to minister in 12 villages. We are thankful for God’s protection over us with so much travel in the bush. One Body, One Spirit, To God be the Glory!

June 2024 – Update from IMOJ Tanzania

IMOJ recently sent a team of 20 people to serve for a week in Tanzania with the Maasai.

June 2024 – Update from IMOJ Tanzania – 5th well drilled

IMOJ successfully drilled the 5th well in the village of Kimotorak on June 13, 2024. All glory to God!! It was a gusher producing 260 gallons a minute for the large community of 10,000!

February 2024 – Update from IMOJ Tanzania

Praise God, the Lord has blessed us with water! IMOJ is celebrating our 4th well in the village of Osilalei, near the town of Terrat. Our team of 20 from the USA participated in the dedication of this well in June 2024.

This is an update from our ministry partner who is serving among the Maasai in Simanjiro Province. Charles Loleku, our project manager for well sustainability, discipleship and community development, has begun a new work in Simanjiro.

In December of last year he visited the villages where IMOJ has established wells and showed the Jesus film. New believers and several leaders from these villages have also been involved in Orality training (discipleship training for oral cultures using the stories of the Bible). Charles has begun to teach the people how to make healthy, fertile soil and grow small gardens for themselves using water from their wells. Maasai are herdsmen, not farmers, so this is a new development that the people are embracing. They are excited to be learning how to provide food for themselves. Along with the training in community development, Charles is also sharing the word of God and praying for the people. Please continue to pray for this ministry and for Charles, who is overwhelmed by the requests from Maasai leaders throughout the province to come and train their people to grow their own food as well. God has also blessed this once dry and barren land with incredible rain over the past few months.

Charles is training the Maasai in sustainable and reproducible gardening for food security and nutrition as IMOJ responds to crucial church and community needs. This is a natural christian response to hunger, providing mitigation strategies to grow and store food in preparation for coming seasons of drought.

February 2024 – Update from IMOJ Tanzania

Praise the Lord, IMOJ has received funds to drill a well in the very needy village of Kimotorok. Because of unusually heavy rains, the drilling has been delayed. Pray that the rains will subside long enough for us to get the heavy equipment to that village and that the first attempt will be successful. Pray for our partners Lamnyak and Lucas as they oversea this project and share the the gospel with the people of Kimotorok.

November 2023 – Update from IMOJ Tanzania

Overview of IMOJ ministry in Tanzania as of October 2023

IMOJ News
Praise God! Since last November, the International Ministry of Jesus, in partnership with Sweetwater Outreach have drilled 3 wells and repaired 3 wells providing clean water to 15,000 Maasai and their herds.

Since last the November, the Jesus film as been shown to 15,000 Maasai in their native tongue and 1,500 received Jesus and most were baptized. 38 Maasai leaders have begun orality training (Bible storying) to equip them to teach and disciple others. 10 churches have been started. God is pouring out his Spirit on the Maasai of Simanjiro Province in Tanzania! We are so grateful to those who have supported this ministry of Jesus among the Maasai.

Lamnyak Siria and Charles Loleku are now supported by IMOJ as full time project managers to oversee the wells and evangelize and disciple the Maasai of Simanjiro Province.

IMOJ is currently fundraising for a well in Kimotorak. This village is 30 kilometers from the nearest water source. And the water they do harvest is not clean. Please consider partnering with us to provide water and the good news of the Gospel to the Maasai of Kimotorak.

September 11-29. – 3rd IMOJ Mission Trip to Tanzania

The 3rd IMOJ team returned home after another very impactful trip to Tanzania.

Our team: Caleb, Trey, Kim, George, Anne-Marie, David and John

Activities:

  1. Established IMOJ in Tanzania through partnership with Here’s Life Africa (https://www.hereslifeafrica.com/) under the leadership of Bishop Stanley Hotay.
  2. We met with our project managers, Lamnyak and Charles, to established a foundational overview of IMOJ, included vision casting, mission, core values, their roles, strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities. We were able to complete strategic planning for the next 3 months of ministry.
  3. We celebrated the completion of the first 2 weeks of training in orality for 38 Maasai at the Baptist Seminary in Arusha. You can learn about orality at https://oralityinstitute.org/about/orality-training/.
  4. George Terry (IMOJ Board member and missions pastor of Bayou City Fellowship) successfully taught a course at the Baptist Seminary in Arusha and connected with the Dean of the Seminary there.
  5. We have developed a partnership with Sweetwater Outreach (https://www.sweetwateroutreach.org/) for repairing wells in Simanjiro Province. The team from Sweetwater, John, David and Trey, repaired 3 wells in Simanjiro and Asilelei for the Maasai.
  6. We participated in a well dedication for the new well in Morawak (Lamnyak’s village). George shared the gospel with the Maasai who came for the dedication. The well in Morawak was developed into a large water distribution center. This deep well provides 10,000 liters every 1.5 hours.
  7. The team visited our partner church, a Maasai church in the small town of Terrat, and encouraged the pastor and his wife and the women there. Kim shared God’s word and her testimony with around 70 women in the church and she and Anne-Marie laid hands on them and prayed for and with them.
  8. We visited the village of Alisipa (village where IMOJ drilled the first well and showed the Jesus film) and encouraged the believers there. We prayed with them and George shared the message of the gospel there.
  9. We visited a church in Asilelei where a well was being repaired. We met with the Maasai pastor, John Kone, who just completed the orality training at the baptist seminary in Arusha. We encouraged him and prayed for and with a group of believers from his church. He testified that the orality training was powerful for him personally. He said, I am a new man after learning this. He is already using orality in his preaching.
  10. We connected with the Chairman of Lobasoit. He is a key leader and partner in the work of IMOJ going forward in Simanjiro Province. 2 wells were repaired in that region. He also provided our teams with lodging.
  11. Caleb, our videographer interviewed key people in each village to learn about how the water and gospel have impacted their communities. He is producing a video to share those stories.

IMOJ still needs $7000 to cover the cost of bibles and discipleship materials for the year. Ask God if he would like for you to contribute to this need. Give here.

April 9, 2023

The IMOJ team has returned from a very impactful trip to Tanzania. Pray that the seeds planted during the trip will grow and flourish into a great harvest of Maasai disciples who seek HIS kingdom first. God is working to draw these people to himself. There are many new believers in remote villages in need of shepherds and churches.

Also, the pump test on the well in Kati Kati came back. The water table is half the amount of what was discovered in Sukuro Village (Allisipa), but still more than enough for the people of Kati Kati. Praise God for a generous donation that came in last week. This gift will enable IMOJ to finish the work of building a water distribution center for the Maasai people living there.

The IMOJ team members in Tanzania

The IMOJ team gifted Lamnyak with a projector, audio system and screen that all fit into a small backpack. He is thrilled to be able to take the Jesus film to the many Maasai villages in Tanzania that still have not heard the good news of Jesus. Thanks to George Terry, the Missions Pastor of Bayou City Fellowship Church in Houston, Lamnyak will be able to take intensive Bible courses at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Arusha.

Baptizing new Maasai believers

The new Maasai believers of Asililae welcome the IMOJ team.

March 2024, 2023

Please pray for the team that is leaving for Tanzania on March 24th. Three churches have partnered with IMOJ to send leaders to preach, teach and baptize the new believers there among the Maasai. This past week IMOJ, in partnership with our Maasai leaders, was able to use the money raised over the past few months to drill another well in a village with no access to clean water. Praise God, they found water!

Drilling for water in Kati Kati!

The new Maasai Christians in the region raised money themselves to bring the Jesus film and a group of evangelists to this new village where the well is being installed. You can watch the celebration that ensued after they watched the film below.

We will be posting updates, news and prayer requests from Tanzania there. God is doing an amazing work and we are blessed to be a small part of it!

March 20, 2023

Praise the Lord from whom ALL blessings flow! About 3 hours ago, water was found in the desert!

“Our God has won!” was the message I received from the pastor at the site. We are full of thanksgiving!!!

It was found at 135 meters after the second drilling. The second site was 10 meters away from the original site.

A few weeks earlier: Praise God!! We have found water in Kati-Kati! The Survey was done yesterday and showed water at 140 meters deep.

God is so good! We now have the funds to start digging the well in Kati-Kati village on Wednesday, March 1st! (Tuesday night our time).

Please pray that we will strike water the first time! This Maasai village is 29 kilometers away from any water source, has no electricity and no roads leading to it. The village will have to provide a road for the rig between now and Wednesday.

God goes before us and oh, how He loves the Maasai tribe.

Please enjoy the sounds of praises from the Maasai tribe after they saw the Jesus film in Kati Kati. Jesus saves!!

The Maasai in Kati Kati celebrating after watching the Jesus Film!

January 2023

Big news! In November 2022 a team from IMOJ went to Tanzania to help dedicate a new well among the Maasai. ‘Here’s Life Africa’ showed the Jesus film to the bush Maasai living in that region for three nights in a row. Nearly 200 accepted Jesus as their savior that weekend.

Our young Maasai warrior then shared the gospel with an entirely different Maasai village 3 hours away from his home and started a church there. 75 of those people have now accepted Jesus as their savior.

Today we received pictures of the people who are now asking to be baptized in the village where the well was installed. God is moving so powerfully among the Maasai people.

Please pray for Lamnyak as he preaches this Sunday. He is a baby Christian with a huge passion and love for Jesus and his people. He is being discipled each week via WhatsApp by an elder at Bayou Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and the pastor in Terrat is also mentoring him.
